soul eater Soul Eater is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo. The manga is published by Square Enix and was first released as three separate one-shots, serialized in two special editions of Gangan Powered and one Gangan Wing broadcast between June 24 and November 26, 2003. The manga began its regular publication in Square Enix’s Monthly Shōnen Gan manga magazine on May 12, 2004. The first compiled volume was released by Square Enix under Gangan Comics on June 22, 2004 in Japan, Spain, the Maldives, and Paraguay and up to October 2008, thirteen volumes have been published. The manga has been licensed for distribution in North America by Yen Press. The English translated version of Soul Eater is distributed in the manga anthology magazine Yen Plus starting on July 29, 2008, and the manga’s first volume will ship in October 2009.

A drama CD was produced on August 31, 2005, which came in a rubber case with an artbook. An anime adaptation produced by Bones was first broadcast in Japan on the TV Tokyo network on April 7, 2008, and is scheduled to contain fifty-one episodes. An action RPG game made by Square Enix for the Wii was released in September 2008, and an action game for the Nintendo DS was released in October 2008. Another action game was released in January 2009 for the PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation Portable.

Synopsis

Soul Eater

Soul Eater is set in a school for technicians and weapons of “shinigami” (Gods of death), called Shibusen, this school is located in the farthest reaches of the world and its main duty is to defend the earth, preventing the appearance of the “Kishin” (Demon God), which would end the world, plunging all humanity into a spiral of madness. Shinigami-sama, the creator of this institution, created this school in order to obtain weapons and weapons technicians capable of carrying out the process of protecting the world. The story focuses on the struggle of three boys and their weapons to become the best technicians, thus helping Shinigami-sama in the task of protecting the world. With a very striking design and a spectacular plot, Soul Eater makes it clear that it is a series worth watching, not to mention the great touches of action and humor that each character adds with their personalities, join the adventure of these guys to save the world, while discovering new friends with each battle.

Due to the gore and the extreme use of violence, the anime is broadcast in two versions: a censored version and an uncensored version. Special sequences are added at the beginning and end of the intermissions and the preview of the next episode is also different, at the moment there is no other difference between the censored version and the original version
By law, the original anime version is broadcast at a late night time slot (which can only be seen by adults, in a time slot commonly broadcast after 11 p.m.)
On September 30, 2010, Soul Eater Repeat Show began to be broadcast, which is a retransmission of the anime with a new director and Opening & Ending, it is not a second season as rumored, although it is not yet clear if it will be a possible remake. Each episode airs on Thursdays at 6:00 in Japan.
Soul Eater also has a video game for Wii: Soul Eater: Monotone Princess, which was announced on April 11, 2008 for Japan.
Despite its great success and fame, it has not been broadcast in foreign countries.
